HEADTEACHER'S BLOG: This is the last Blog of the term - where is the time going?

Year 5 had a wonderful 2 day residential at Rippledown on Monday and Tuesday. They came back into school on Wednesday bleary eyed but buzzing with what they had done. This trip is fantastic for team building and we find the year group is always more together afterwards. It can only go ahead because staff are happy to commit to an overnight stay – thank you.

Something strange occurred in Year 1 on Monday – if you saw on Facebook they had a visit from something which left them a couple of ‘presents’. The year group really enjoyed the experience and the learning that has come from it has been incredible.

Just to remind you that during Term 6 we have 2 development days; Friday 23 June and Monday 26 June which will make a long weekend for you.

Attendance is on the up with overall attendance currently at 96.1% The aim of the school is for everyone to aim for 96% attendance. Our persistent absence (% of pupils below 90%) is currently 3.9% which is a huge improvement. Thank you for your continuing efforts to get everyone here on time every day.

See you at the gate.  Until next term ... ...                                         KATE LUXFORD

 Headteacher's Welcome

Sandown School is a hard working, fun and caring school with a passion for learning and achievement.

We are exceptionally proud of our children. They are bright and happy young people who enjoy being at school, each bringing unique talents to our community. Sandown School pupils have freedom and security to be themselves, and many opportunities to follow their interests and aspirations. At Sandown School we believe that children are better prepared for the future if they are equipped with the tools needed to enable them to become confident, independent, caring and emotionally intelligent individuals.

We hope you enjoy using this website to keep updated with life at Sandown.
