Sandown School

Friends of Sandown School

Please come along and meet other parents/relatives/carers and discuss fund raising ideas for the school.  Everyone's family situation varies and we know that not everyone can commit significant amounts of time to help out with every activity.  Therefore, we're taking a less formal approach than the previous PTFA, which will hopefully allow people to commit as little or as much as possible.

We'd love to hear your ideas and look forward to meeting you soon!

A few words from the Friends on their latest news -

This Christmas term will be a busy one. Below is a list of planned events and some background for those of you new to the school.

Fri 30 Nov:            Presents for loved ones

We’ll ask for gift donation during the week of 19th Nov, which will be collected in KS1 playground at drop off. These just need to be small gifts, that the children will then choose from themselves on the 30th, paying £1 per gift, which will be wrapped and delivered to them in class. Please don’t forget the male relatives. Pupils should bring in their money during the week of 19th Nov in a named envelope and the amount (limited to 2 gifts per person). Also, if known, an indication of male or female gifts to be chosen would be very helpful.

                                Christmas dinner

If you have any odd crackers lying around from last year, please bring them in as we’ll be providing crackers for the Christmas lunch.

Fri 14 Dec:             Santa’s grotto

Santa will be visiting Sandown for the day and the pupils can visit Santa who will give them a present (£2). We’ll be collecting donation the week of 3rd Dec, at drop off in KS1 playground. Pupils should bring in their money during the week of 3rd Dec in a named envelope.

Wed 26 Dec:         Sponsored Boxing Day dip

Are you brave enough? We already have several people volunteering to get in the water to raise money for Sandown. It would be great if more people took up the challenge. Based on last year, to take part you must register and it costs £5, if registered in advance, or £10 if you register on the day – please enter that you’re raising for Sandown School on the entry form. The theme will be Sandown colours of blue and gold. Look out for sponsor form in book bags later this term. Children can take part, if they are 8 or older and take part with an adult. The site isn’t open yet but will hopefully be soon.

If you would like to know more about Friends of Sandown, come along to our coffee mornings and/or evening meetings at Der Bar. We would love to see you and hear your ideas! For this term, the dates are:

Friday 23rd November after drop off, in the after school club room

Tuesday 27th at The Bar, from 7pm
